I don't think I've ever found my style. A way of drawing. An end result that I'm completely comfortable with. Where I look at the finished piece and go, yeah I want more drawings like that. I get close now and then. But then I see a different way of doing things and I try that instead.
I'm saying this because this week was one of those weeks. I started the week drawing with 0.3 B technical pencil. Then the drawing changed as I tried my HB 0.3 technical pencil And suddenly I was so much happier with the line and the tone after finding B a bit soft. Then mid week I discovered an amazing artist. Darren Beadman. He draws with 7B pencils. And I love the line and tone he gets. So I get some of those and continue on that same drawing with a 7B Staedtler graphite pencil. And it looks awesome. Less washed out and grey. More bold. I love it. And I'm loving the line of a normal pencil again. So now I'm drawing with a HB and a 7B Staedtler. And I'm considering moving my art from white illustration board to greytone paper so I can play with the whites as well!
And this is why I never settle. I'm always looking for that right way. That eureka moment when it all just clicks. Until then as Indiana Jones once said, I'm making it up as I go!
