Snail!

Yet again I've given up on a Moleskine sketchbook! Lol! It's always the same. I start one all excited. And then I get bogged down in a drawing that I just can't seem to finish. And I think I could be spending this time doing a real drawing. So I give in. Thinking of all the real art I could get done.

Ahhh maybe it's for the best. I only have so much free time to do art each day. And I kinda think it's better spent than working for hours on a shiny sketchbook I don't have time for really.

So now I'm trying to get into a new routine! Which is a big issue for me. I struggle to get into a comfortable working routine where I can get a good amount of work done and still have some free time to have a life.

So this week I started a new way of thinking. I'm working on 2 drawings. And my plan is to get them done this week. Nice and simple. And a lot less pressure. I'm tired of trying to juggle 3 or 4 things. And often feel like I don't really make much progress. So here's to simple. And I tell ya. After 3 days it's going well. Really think I may hit my deadline!

And here's to a Snail drawing I did a few years back. I actually think it was the first piece I ever sold. And it started life in a Moley! That I abandoned! So that's full circle then.

I Am Iron Man...

Hi everyone. Been wanting to share this drawing for about a week now. I finished it. I scanned it. And it's just been there on my desktop, waiting for me to resize and clean up.

It was a commission for a friend of mine at work. She wanted an Iron Man to give as a Birthday present. And she was really happy with the finished result.

The Fastest Hunk Of Junk In The Galaxy...

Welcome to another week and a new drawing to kick things off. I'm having such a blast drawing in my Moleskine sketchbook. Just me and a pencil doodling away. Here's drawing number 3 from it. My all time favourite space ship ever. The Millenium Falcon from Star Wars. A ship I can't wait to see come back in Star Wars Episode 7. Even if it's door is breaking Harrison Ford's leg!

Think it might be a big week this week. As I think I'm going to be taking the plunge finally. And start selling my art on ebay! A lot of it is going to be drawings from my portfolio. Plus any new pieces I do. At least one new one a week. I think I'm going to be putting up a new drawing every day or so for a month. Give it a real go. And see if I can generate sales and interest in my stuff. So keep an eye out later in the week. Maybe the weekend. It's all going to kick off very soon!

Fortune And Glory Kid...

It's the start of another new week. And time for another new drawing. I'm having so much fun working in my Moleskine at the moment. It's mainly for an hour in the morning every day before I leave for my day job! And I'm really planning to stick with it this time. I have a long history of starting a sketchbook and then giving it up after a few pieces. But not this time. I will finally have a nice shiny Moleskine filled with my drawings! So here's number 2. Indiana Jones from Temple of Doom. Drawn with a HB technical pencil. And I'm already hard at work on my next drawing...

Aren't You A Little Short For A Stormtrooper...

Today I'm gonna share my love of Star Wars! In case you hadn't guessed from my blog name! With a pair of Princess Leia drawings. Both from the first Star Wars movie. The one above I finished very recently. And the one below in ballpoint pen, I drew last year. Both look really cool and go well together. So today's a mix of new art and portfolio art.

Right now I'm working away on finishing a bunch of drawings that I've taken to about 90% done. And that's how I'm going to spend this weekend. Clear the decks a bit before I start anything new. As I have 2 or 3 nearly finished pieces. And a commission I'm working on. So it's time to get them all done.

I'm also still working away on my Moleskine sketchbook every morning. The second page is about 99% done. Just needs some tinkering. And I started another cool little drawing this morning.

I'm so motivated at the moment. Really plan on doing something with all this now! I'm finally ready!

I Have A Very Specific Skillset...

A few years back I was obsessed with Moleskine sketchbooks. Started a whole bunch of them. Did a load of drawings on their distinctive cream paper. You might see a few in my classic posts soon!

One of the things I've always wanted is a Moleskine sketchbook filled with great drawings. Filled all the way to the end.

So I thought. With my new blog. What a great time to start a new one. And as I'm trying to be more organised with my time. I've decided to only work in it in the morning before I leave for my day job. Moleskine Mornings I'm calling it. And here's drawing number 1! Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow from The Avengers. And I think over the weeks and months I'd like to draw all the other Avengers too. Iron Man, Thor, Cap etc. This is HB pencil in the A5 (aprox) sketchbook! And I'm already hard at work on drawing number 2!

Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey...

Slightly wonky week. Worked for 3 days on a new drawing. Was all going so well! And then it all went totally wrong. So had to rethink what I was going to do next. And by the time I did that it was the weekend. Then I was a bit under the weather. So my great first week of blogging hit a few snags. Rest assured I am now back on it. Polishing up a new drawing as I write this. And have my little work schedule planned out and everything.

So I'm here today to share this weeks classic post. A couple of recent drawings of my favourite Doctor ever! Matt Smith was fantastic as the Time Lord. He really got me into the character. I'm still a bit gutted he left so soon after the 50th! But oh well! I'm sure Peter Capaldi will be great. One of these drawings is in ballpoint pen (above), the other a pencil drawing (below). I hope you like them.

I'll be back later in the week with a really new drawing. And then I can really start nailing down my weekly work plan!

Blast From The Past...

I've had some lovely feedback to the launch of my new blog on Sunday. Where I shared a brand new drawing of Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones. And I have loads of other new stuff on its way. I'm very fired up and busy at the mo!

This post though is about my portfolio. Now I've been online on and off for several years! I've had blogs and tumblrs and even a website. What this means is I have a ton of art all ready to share on here. Some people may have already seen these pieces. But lots won't have.

So today in my new home I have a couple of older drawings to share. First up is Jack Nicholson as The Joker from the Tim Burton Batman film. That one's a ballpoint pen drawing on illustration board. And secondly we have a pencil doodle of the beautiful Gillian Anderson as FBI Agent Dana Scully from The X-Files. This one's in pencil on illustration board.

Now it's been a while since I did all this online malarkey. And it's something I know will take time to build and grow. Hopefully people will like my stuff and this can lead somewhere positive.

Every Saga Has A Beginning...

Hey everyone. Welcome to my new home.

Over the years I've tried everything. So many blogs! Even a big complicated website that ended up making my head hurt. Now finally I've decided to go back to where I started. A simple, clean blog! It's all about the art after all. I spend too much time stressing about my online stuff!

It's the first of lots and lots of cool drawings I have ready to share. Really excited to get back into this.

Now as I've been doing this on and off for several years, I also have a whole load of portfolio work I want to reshare as well as new stuff. So my aim right now is to do a couple of posts a week. 1 of a brand new shiny drawing. The other a kind of greatest hits post. Some of you have already seen these drawings in the past. But I'm hopeful that through this I'll meet lots of new people who like my stuff. 

Finally. Nearly all of my work is for sale. I'll be setting up an etsy shop soon. So keep a look out for that.

And as for the way things look round here. I will be tweaking and changing things round. I just wanted to get the main pieces in place so I can start sharing my art.
